September 2, 2022
Terrace View is happy to introduce our Resident Spotlight for August, Verlie J.!
Verlie is 94 years old and has been a resident with us for a little over three years. Verlie was born and raised in Richmond, Kentucky. She grew up on a farm, where she would help her mom pick and can tomatoes. She also helped her dad harvest tobacco. She graduated from Waco High School in 1945 and got married in 1951 to Jack. They then had two children, both boys.
Verlie J. - Terrace View's August Resident of the Month!
Verlie worked part-time at the Chili Company for a while and enjoyed being a housewife. In her spare time, she would volunteer at her church, where she played the organ for 50 years. She would also volunteer at a local nursing home and provide church services for them.
Some of Verlie’s hobbies throughout her life have been fishing, traveling, collecting dishes and knickknacks, shopping, playing bingo and reading bible verses. Some of her favorite places to travel to were California, North and South Carolina, Texas and the Bahamas. Verlie also loved to go on cruises. She had a passion for the outdoors and a deep love for animals, even the ones most people aren’t very fond of such as raccoons and opossums.
Verlie said her favorite thing about Terrace View Gardens is that the food is good, and all the people are very nice and easy to get along with. She is a pleasure to have as a resident; her smile brightens everyone’s day!
